Off Play Call rate / Avg distance stats

In my playbooks, it lists all the plays with the Team familiarity, avg per call and times called.

I assume these stats are from the very start of this club?

Surely it makes sense that we can limit it to stats regarding a set date time (this season, last 2 seasons etc?). I'm not interested in the fact I have a 10.2 avg per call for a play used 30 times...if that was all from 6 seasons ago with different players etc?!

Likewise, I would love to have someway of recording / downloading / compiling the stats for what has been used each game. I've tried the three match reports (video/box and commentary) but the only way seems to be go through the whole commentary and tally up which plays were used and note the distances gained.

Surely in the end-of-match stats it would be really useful (and easy to compile?) to see:

HB Blast used: 5 times avg per call = 7.4
HB Outside Strong used: 3 times avg per call = 9.2

That way I'd look directly back at that previous game and know how this current crop of players are doing using these current tactics etc.

Your thoughts?

I believe it's just a season statistic.

Surely can't be? !
We've only just started regular season and I have some calls which have been played 50 times etc.
Still think it would surely be very useful and easy to add it to the end of game stats?

Take those stats not so seriously. 49 attempts at a 2 yard average might bump a run play for me. But if that 50th attempt, goes for 90 plus yards, your average jumps to 3.9. Serviceable, but seriously would change my consideration of whether to bump the play or not.

Two strong run defenses in a row will drop those numbers, while an injured team who couldnt stop the run anyway might allow for gaudy numbers. The personell you have really should dictate the plays you run. If the left side of your line is good, run left alot.

For example, I like to pull the RG on run plays. So I pick RGs that are quick and I only pick the runs where the only the. RG pulls. It may be like two plays, but that is how I pick my plays. Not by averages, by logic. There are many other factors but if the O lineman is slow I will not pick plays that requires him to cover alot of ground.

On that note when will screen passes be added.

If I see in the averages a play is not working over a long time then I might change it......or even change it back again depending if an opponent can be exposed.

Yeah I suppose I understand the average part of it. Guess it's just a starting point for me. But yes you're right: try play 1 agst tough team and play 2 agst easy team and the analysis is skewed.
Cutting to the chase I guess I need to just work out where my strengths lie and work out what plays match that.
Thanks for your help
