It's nearly impossible to make a fair trade for a player at the end of his career. Guys that will be retiring within 3 seasons or so do not warrant first or second rounders no matter how good they are. Especially with how strict the trading window seems to be now, I'd like to see older players easier to move.

OP has merit.
However I believe that some players potentially DO merit a 1st or 2nd if they are still playing at an extremely high level. To get "Star" play for 3 season's certainly could warrant a 1st and definitely a 2nd.
I've definitely dealt a first round pick that I knew was going to be near the end of the first round for a veteran player that could make my defense that much better.

I agree, I did a trade like that in MFN6 that worked out nicely.
