redistribute Player Contracts

If i recall correctly we can redistribute coaches' contracts when they are all out of whack.

so if we can do it for coaches why not be able to do it for players too?

i would think this would help big time when a person or CPU messes up the cap and i would think this idea would work better than cutting players to fix the cap and/or trade draft picks to fix the cap.

I'm up for this as long as it is restricted to only be used in very specific scenarios. I would hate to see this become a crutch. Or worse yet, people may use it as an unfair advantage by signing every free agent and waiver claim no matter how far over the cap it puts them and then they can reset the contracts by "redistributing" them.

i will be honest didnt think about that.....was just trying to help when things get out of hand either by CPU or a person....so maybe this wouldnt be a ideal for cap problems because you said it would have to be restricted to only specifc situations so you would have to have like a rating system for Cap Problems like from 1 to 10 and 7 and above get to use it or higher awhile anything below like a 6 and below cant though this probably would open a new can of worms so disregard idea.

I can see where you're coming from with the idea but I don't think this would work. The redistribution of coaching contracts is due to assistants making more than the coordinators and coordinators making more than the head coach. Redistributing it as stated in the link below doesn't change the budget but simply gives the HC more than the coordinators and the coordinators more than the positional coaches. This idea wouldn't work with players as no matter how you maneuvered the salaries of players it'd affect the salary cap regardless of whether the highest rated player was paid the most and the worst players are paid accordingly. What I think you're talking about is simply shedding salary from overpaid players that were signed simply to destroy the cap infrastructure, which also wouldn't work as preshead mentioned. Someone could easily exploit that option and the cap room would be completely useless as owners could sign FA's to max deals only to be able to cut their salary down to fit the cap. So, in my opinion, your idea of "redistributing" player contracts wouldn't work.

Link to JDB mentioning how redistributing coaching contracts simply reorganizes the salary into the correct order while NOT affecting budget that was previously allocated to the coaches:
