This play literally just happened as you were posting. 88 speed LB catches my 95 speed WR.

No explanation there. Shouldn't happen.

(and it cost me...fumble on the drive = no points)

Are you saying that ball security is a thing?

Yes it should, on occasion.

This isn't a 100m sprint.

No, disagree but you don't have the frame of reference to contrast with this pre-defensive emphasis era.

On board with RBs and TEs being tracked down. On board with slower WRs being tracked down. On board with high end speed DBs tracking down sub-90 WRs. However, this was a 95 speed (Usain Bolt of WRs) getting halted from a TD by a LINEBACKER.

Breaking it down to the exact science.

It was written to prevent the PA Fullback Flat Pass from connecting for the TD as it had in the past. It's not rooted in anything but to create a drastic change from v4.2 and to put everyone on high alert that big plays will be hard to come by, offensively.

No matter how you want to explain it. The results are what matters.

In the NFL in 2018, 23 WRs caught passes for over 1000 yards.

Checking 7 of my leagues that have completed a full season under version 4.5

and the most Ive seen is 6 WRs reaching that plateau in 1 league

5 WRs X2, 4 WRs X2 , 3 WRs and 0 WRs in the other 6 leagues.

This is statistical data compiled from 7 seperate leagues with vastly different ownership bases from full leagues with highly successful owners (Rivals, NFL League) to generic leagues (MFN-8).

When you couple that with the fact that QBs are completing passes in the high 60 to low 70 percentile then it becomes clear that the WR position has been targeted in the new code to elimate fast strike offense.

What would be truly fascinating would to calculate how much yardage the WRs that did reach that 1000 yard plateau did so while playing at RB in game.

The bottom line is that an over correction has been put in place in 4.5 for the WR and my only hope is that we will see measures taken in 4.6 to counter that over correction

Yes. It's not just speed and acceleration. Other factors - ball carrying skill (lower values here slow players down when they are carrying the ball) and fatigue (more tired = slower) are pretty significant factors beyond simple speed and acceleration.

Thats a 95 speed, 95 acceleration WR catching the ball in stride and streaking down the field being chased down by an 85 speed, 85 acceleration LB.

Picture Tyreek Hill being chased down by C.J. Mosley in the open field. Once a WR with elite speed gets behind the defense, it should be over but like previously stated nerfs have been added to help prevent these plays from happening.

Thats the type of play that should pump you up as an owner like watching NFL Prime on the NFL network around midnight and seeing all the great highlights.

Its the type of play that keeps owners engaged in the sim and wanting to see more.

BTW that recievers ball carrying is rated 83

You clearly don't need to have played this game for years to be able to apply logic.

Is jdb's word enough for you or does he lack frame of bullshit arguments too?

You guys are way too hooked on how things were in the past. Focus should be on improving the overall experience going forward. A 99 speed player (RB Chris Johnson for example) didn't run home runs all game. Wear and tear and such.

One of my favourite NFL clips is from a (Saints, I think) game where a play is intercepted and Benjamin Watson tackles at the 5 to prevent a TD. Are you going to tell me next that Benji Watson was more than a speed 80 player at best?

No, his words aren't enough.

The overall experience has decreased but *shaking my head* not worth my time debating.

Therefore, I disengage on this thread.
