Custom Leagues

I was looking at one of my leagues and came up with an interesting question. If say a Custom team owner decided to move his team to Moscow, does the city his team plays in change? And if so does that mean his home games are played in Russian weather?

Yes, the weather is based on the location of the city. Which isn't as dramatic as you might think, a lot of the really cold weather up north tends to happen after January. The weather is actually mapped to a real date in history (the year is adjusted to a historical year for each season) and pulls real weather from that date for the city the game is in. The data comes from http://forecast.io (check out the "time machine" feature) which covers the entire world.

It would be awesome then if the northern cities made it into the later rounds of the playoffs because then you would see some real crazy weather for the playoff games.

maybe it is just me but it would nice to have like weather affect the games where both teams have to stop passing the ball and just run it all day , they have to stop running it and just pass it all day , they combine to post really bad passing or rushing numbers , they score like 2 points the whole game because it is so hard to stay on their feet , passes sail right out of bounds , etc.

Btw: not saying you would have to have the weather affect the games just was giving my 2 cents worth of a opinion of how nice it would be like.

Only if we had weather forecasts that could help in game planning.

I had read somewhere in the forums that the weather is accurate. My original intent was Dikson. Northern-most settlement in Russia. 31. That is the *record high* in January. Dikson is a brisk -17 degrees right now.

The Prudhoe Bay roustabouts would be a good team too: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prudhoe_Bay,_Alaska#Climate

Here's the lowest temperature I was able to get using the available cities in testing:

The cities in the database have a minimum population of 15,000, Longyearbyen is the city closest to the North Pole.

Not the Longyearbyen Santa's? This has to be done :)
Actually I'd like to see a league with capital cities from around the world, could that be done?

100% attendance wow. That's some dedication.
