Re: War Room / Draft Board

Well, suffice to say I did not prioritize any such positional picks in AI settings for this draft. But all of a sudden, the LB's that were suggested by AI, after my first pick (1-4), suddenly vanished from the AI Draft Board. (My pick was a DL)

Why is this important ? Let's say a noob (like me) comes along and is bright enough to know his/her teams needs, and clicks on "War Room"....the AI then takes a snapshot of their team, and positions the best picks it think can help them.

Then, the GM gets a decent deal on the FA/Trading market of desired positions that the AI initially suggested to draft. They then go back to the War Room and still find the same type player listed to as a suggestion.

As mentioned, I initially clicked on "War Room" (ended 10-6 and wanted to know what place I was drafting at) at the end of season spin, then the AI suggested that I need LB's (which I knew). Then traded in very good young LB's, then returned to the "War Room" to find out I still need LB's.

I'm extremely happy with the way our post season is going...but I'm just pointing out something that escaped me in the past and might help a few younger folks out.

I'm sure these tools are useful but I always assumed anything done by the AI as an option is really there as a safety net in case you can't get to a computer to make changes. Also, since I never use it.. wouldn't the AI look at overall mostly? Wouldn't that case a huge problem with locating specific role players in the later rounds with a high grade in a specific attribute?

Yes, except there is a slider to set how hard it looks at volatility.

Yes, unless that attribute is volatility.

I know the ai uses some logic based on the head coach, but there weights are off for finding role players if you want to diversify schemes or change the coach. The default weights are generally more well rounded compared to mine, but I think they align them with scheme

Lately I have been using player weights to to get role, players by ignoring the labels and drafting them based on scheme . Not necessarily well rounded players unless that is his role primarily .

RB would be pure runner
FB might be a balanced back or 3rd down back
TE more like an h-back
LT is the run blocking tackle
RT is a pass blocking tackle
LG is a less agile technical guard
RG is the mobile guard
LDE is 9 technique DE and or 3 technique DT
Dt is my zero or slower 1 tech defender
RDE is my 5, 6,7, and or a faster 1 technique who will play some RDT
SLB is edge rusher with a little 3rd, 4th and 5th
MLB is 4th , 5th option cover LB
Wlb is man 3rd , 4th option cover LB
CB is man coverage #1 lock down CB
SS is my 4th and 5th option cover guy
FS is my 2nd and 3rd, 4th and 5th option safety or balanced CB

I can work with a few schemes using these responsibilities ....I gotten the ai to get some decent players but the volatility is a **** shoot. I think the point of weights is to search or click on less players . The AI just picks the first guy .

Drafting is my favorite part of the game and it takes time, still one of my goals was for the ai to draft a legit team just by changing weights alone . It's been tough cause I always have an urge to draft a guy only a few slots down .

There was a bug years ago that would draft multiple positions for no reason . Like it got stuck or something . I don't think that's what is happening here, but debugging something might take place.

I edit /refresh my board if it doesn't seem like the values for desired postions didn't change. Or I will just change guys postions. But in the auto que I keep them at 1 for rate and zero for count and volatility at zero as well. They seem to change fine, but perhaps my team was considered weak there already .

The draft board is using your own weights to score the players, not the general weights. When you first enter the war room, the priority weights are set for your team based on the state of your team at that moment. All the priority weights are is a goal number of each position and how important those positions are (so you don't take the 90-rated FB over the 80-rated LB when you are equally in need of both positions). It is assumed that once you've been in the war room you are now managing your priority list and auto-pick weights; any roster changes after this point will not change the auto-pick weights. Otherwise, they would erase any settings you did for yourself. I would recommend playing with the auto weights to get a draft board that you reasonably like and the laying on top of that your own manual picks, but it is definitely not intended to be an AI tool that is managing your draft.

Where is there a list that shows exactly what and how the attributes effect the game? an updated list?

I used to have a list available but because the engine is still in beta I stopped supporting it. I was not taking the time to keep it up to date, so it was more harmful than it was helpful.
