Yes, originally starter quality was supposed to be in the 60's and 70's, but that made the draft class look deplorable to anyone used to playing Madden and other similar games. I understand the frustration, I mean, who wants a team where you only have one player rated above 80? The unfortunate side effect is that now a 100-rated player is a star player but we no longer have headroom for the 'studs' that come out once every few years.

As to speed, I'm taking your comments into consideration. It does make sense to display speed and acceleration on a scale that is relative to all players without regard to their weight, since the other attributes are not impacted by the player weight.

Except strength, which is also relative to physical weight.

I've seen 100 speed 100acc guys get chased down from behind and tackled by guys with 70's so I have no idea what 100 speed is

Part of that is because the applied physical weight negatives are disproportional. Take a 5'9" 220 pound running back with 100s in everything versus a 6'3" 240 pound TE with 100s in everything. Put the 240 pound TE in at RB and let him get his positional knowledge up to 100. He'll still struggle to match the 220 pound RB production even if they are the same player in terms of body mass composition.

That's why you see so many owners camping RBs at WR once they've reached full potential in break tackle (which WR does not camp for). It keeps the RBs weight way down and makes them functionally so much faster than if they had stayed at WR.

Don't forget to factor in the "ballcarry" effect.

I may be in a minority here, but I would vote to eliminate that attribute entirely. If anything, an "elusiveness" attribute would be more palatable.

Is that even needed with the ridiculous cutbacks we still see?

Surely you've seen a player pull a 135-145 degree cut back in real life like happen every game in MFN.

I mean, I appreciate the Tecmo style runs as much as the next Christian Okoye fan, but I think tackling ability falls into a separate thread.

I remember I would always play as the Packers in that game and then double team the center with Reggie White (I think this was tecmo 2 or 3), it was pretty insane.
